It’s looking like a great day for our MedMob on Sunday 13th May, 3pm….Here’s a few venue pics and a map to help you find us!!!! We’ll be sitting in Barney and Bligh Park, just 15 metres to the right of the Museum of Contemporary Art.
With over 250+ Cities around the world joining this public meditation movement, MedMob has fast grown into a global peace phenomenon..
This movement, known as MedMob, began in January 2011 when 60 people launched a meditation flash mob in Austin at the Texas State Capitol landmark. In February, the Austin MedMob grew to 250 people with seven other cities hosting their own MedMobs. The movement has now expanded across the globe with MedMob’s hosted in nearly every continent!
From humble beginnings, MedMob has grown to a global movement, “Our initial intention was to expose Austin to the power of meditation and invite people from all walks of life to join,” commented Patrick Kronfli, co-founder of MedMob. “It’s inspiring to see leaders around the world rise up to create the same experience and it’s exciting to be part of a global movement committed to internal peace.”
MedMob’s are not affiliated with any specific religious or spiritual tradition and everyone is invited to join and participate. People are welcome to attend for all of it, part of it, or just to kick back and bask in the peace. Children and families are most welcome.
Studies in psychology and neuroscience have demonstrated meditation to have a positive impact on health, wellbeing and literally can change the structure and patterns of thinking. MedMob is consistent with increasing developments around the world where people are realising the benefits of seeking internal peace, balance, and fulfilment.
ARRIVAL: We’ll start arriving around 2:30pm to connect with others before the meditation begins. At 3:00pm we will spread throughout the sitting area outside, being conscious to keep public pathways open. Bring a mat or cushion to sit on.
At 3:00pm, the 1 hour seated silent meditation begins! You can come for all of it, part of it, or kick back and bask in the peace. You’re presence is valued far more than your ability to sit the entire time!
At 4:00pm, we’ll kick off the Sound Bath – We will all gather in one spot at the centre of our group to do an 11 minute ommmm bonanza!. This is often the highlight of the event!!!
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY, EVERYONE WELCOME!!!
BIKE, take bus, train, or Carpool to the event! The MCA is very close to Circular Quay.

If you’re new to Meditation or MedMob for that matter, you may be wondering what this movement is all about. Here’s a few clips of two MedMob’s we’ve had in Sydney as well as a great clip from Austin Medmob, where it all began!
Happy Viewing!!!!

Here’s the map for this weeks MedMob. We’ll be sitting outside Bondi Pavillion together with people from over 300 cities around the world.
Meditators can either spread along the sand, stairs or on the pavement above the stairs. To really create a spectacle, it’d be great to sit together in relatively close proximity…For the soundbath, we’ll gather in a circle on the sand below the pavillion stairs.
In the event of wet-weather, we’ll be sitting under the arches of Bondi Pavillion.
We’d love to have a diverse representation of people for our Moment Of Peace, MedMob on March 10th. Most of all, bringing Meditation into the public domain really demonstrates that to benefit from a Meditation practice, you don’t need to fit any mould. Many people find that aligning themselves with a Spiritual or Religious tradition greatly compliments their practice, however, it’s certainly not part of the essential criteria. Increasingly, we’re witnessing the emergence of Mindfulness and Meditation practice as a pragmatic tool that serves a wide range of purposes in daily living. This great video from Jon Kabat-Zinn really affirms this!
If you’ve not already, tell your friends, invite others and if you’re a facebooker, RSVP on our event page at – http://www.facebook.com/events/378238068868559/
There’s an abundance of wonderful initiatives popping up all around the globe that focus on nurturing community, harmony and exploration of our inner-space as a precedent for outer peace.
With MedMob and The Moment of Peace now in their second year, things are continuing to grow, develop and build in such a positive way, it’s only natural that we’d team up and joining forces. This year in Sydney for The Moment of Peace, we’re super-fortunate to have Dean ‘Jagaro’ Crabb, the founder of the movement joining us on Bondi Beach for a large-scale public Meditation, right on sunset!
To really make this event a spectacle, we’d love for you to share the word with others in your community. Past MedMob experience has proven that sitting together in silent, mutual harmony has a profound impact in deepening connections with others and even having an impact on the outer environment. Many times, people passing by have joined us, being drawn to the atmosphere and warmth silence can create.
So…March 10th! The Moment of Peace and MedMob, together on Bondi Beach at 6:30pm. Hope to see you there!!!
We’ll be getting out flyers out soon however it’d be great if you’re able to join our Facebook event page and register you attendance. You can also invite friends on the guest list. Find our page at – http://www.facebook.com/events/378238068868559/
