The What, Where, When and How of MedMob at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 13th May.

08 May

With over 250+ Cities around the world joining this public meditation movement, MedMob has fast grown into a global peace phenomenon..

This movement, known as MedMob, began in January 2011 when 60 people launched a meditation flash mob in Austin at the Texas State Capitol landmark. In February, the Austin MedMob grew to 250 people with seven other cities hosting their own MedMobs. The movement has now expanded across the globe with MedMob’s hosted in nearly every continent!

From humble beginnings, MedMob has grown to a global movement, “Our initial intention was to expose Austin to the power of meditation and invite people from all walks of life to join,” commented Patrick Kronfli, co-founder of MedMob. “It’s inspiring to see leaders around the world rise up to create the same experience and it’s exciting to be part of a global movement committed to internal peace.”

MedMob’s are not affiliated with any specific religious or spiritual tradition and everyone is invited to join and participate. People are welcome to attend for all of it, part of it, or just to kick back and bask in the peace. Children and families are most welcome.

Studies in psychology and neuroscience have demonstrated meditation to have a positive impact on health, wellbeing and literally can change the structure and patterns of thinking. MedMob is consistent with increasing developments around the world where people are realising the benefits of seeking internal peace, balance, and fulfilment.

  • On Sunday 13 May from 15.00 to 16.30

ARRIVAL: We’ll start arriving around 2:30pm to connect with others before the meditation begins. At 3:00pm we will spread throughout the sitting area outside, being conscious to keep public pathways open. Bring a mat or cushion to sit on.

At 3:00pm, the 1 hour seated silent meditation begins! You can come for all of it, part of it, or kick back and bask in the peace. You’re presence is valued far more than your ability to sit the entire time!

At 4:00pm, we’ll kick off the Sound Bath – We will all gather in one spot at the centre of our group to do an 11 minute ommmm bonanza!. This is often the highlight of the event!!!

BIKE, take bus, train, or Carpool to the event! The MCA is very close to Circular Quay.

Map and directions will be posted on the event page and also the MedMobSydney Facebook in the coming weeks!

FAMILIES and NON-MEDITATORS: If you have children, please come and sit or play nearby, while holding a deep intention with us. Your beautiful, loving energy will deepen the experience for everyone.
